GAD language

GAD is a programming language written in Haitian Creole, invented by GETHO GUERRIER / GRAN LAKU COMPANY. Its compiler comes with WASDEV: write, run, check and build GAD programs without installing anything.

What GAD is

GAD keywords are Creole words: montre prints a value, si means if, fè defines an action and fini closes a block. The language does not change for other countries: a developer who does not read Creole uses the dictionary and the translate command.

  • The compiler in WASDEV is GAD 1.4.0.
  • Accents are optional in keywords: fè and fe are the same word.
  • One compiler runs the program, checks it, formats it, tests it and builds it.

  • GAD Mobile (Android / iOS) and GAD RASIN (firmware flashed on a board) are not in the compiler yet. WASDEV shows them in the Run panel as not available.

Download the examples

Every program of these pages is in one small project. Download it, open it in WASDEV and run each file yourself.

  1. Click the button to download the file gad-examples.zip.
  2. Extract the ZIP in a folder of your choice.
  3. In WASDEV, open the File menu, choose Open Folder… and select the folder gad-examples.
  4. Open a file, for example bilten.gad, and press F5.
  • The project contains only GAD source files: no account, no key and no server address.
  • To read a file in your browser without downloading it, click its name below.

The licence

GAD is free inside WASDEV on one condition: every project made with GAD shows the credit in its About section. The first time you run or build a GAD file, WASDEV shows the licence.

  1. Read the licence.
  2. Click Copy to copy the credit text.
  3. Tick the box to agree, then click Accept.

Your first GAD program

Create a GAD file in WASDEV, run it, check it and format it. Every command on this page was run in the WASDEV terminal.

The same interface code becomes a static web page, and a few lines make an HTTP server with a database.

Write tests in GAD, declare a project with lakou.gad, start every GAD target from the Run panel and add packages.
